Cortona3D Viewer supports VRML 2.0

Cortona3D Viewer doesn't support VRML 1.0. Users can check the version of the VRML file by following the steps below:

Change the VRML file extension from *.wrl to *.zip (this can be done by renaming the file)
Accept the change
Extract the contents of the archive
Open extracted file with Notepad and
The very first line of the file will indicate the VRML version

The first line of VRML files created with Cortona3D tools is #VRML V2.0 utf8.
