Cortona3D team attends Realize LIVE Americas 2024: technical publication authoring trends and positive customer feedback

The Cortona3D team recently attended Realize LIVE Americas 2024, a premier event held in Las Vegas, Nevada, from May 13-15, dedicated to exploring the latest advancements in digital transformation and industry innovation. This event brought together over 2,000 attendees, including leading companies like Siemens, Sony, and Navair. Our purpose was to gain insights, network with industry leaders, and meet company partners and clients to strengthen collaborations, share knowledge, and stay up-to-date on the latest trends and technologies shaping our field.
There were so many great presentations this year, too many to mention. We'd like to highlight just a few that are connected to the theme of technical publications, the area of the Cortona3D expertise.
A notable session on the first day was led by Trish Laedtke, Teamcenter Product Manager at Siemens, titled "Extending the Concept of Reuse - Automated Tech Pubs in the Digital Thread." This session demonstrated new automation options for generating technical publications directly from Teamcenter and CAD data. It emphasized that modern documents are no longer limited to hard copies, PDFs, or HTML pages but are now available on new platforms, configuration-specific, and enriched with interactive 3D animations and augmented reality. Despite these advancements, maintaining accuracy and currency remains crucial. The session discussed how to automate document generation within the digital thread, while still supporting traditional formats when necessary. Our colleague, Moritz Menzel, VP of Strategy, co-presented this session with Trish, sharing valuable insights on the latest automation tools and methods.
Another standout was by Gulfstream Aerospace Corp., titled "Aircraft Technical Manuals in an EWIS World." Fred Board, Keith Drittler, and Victoria Hudgins from the Technical publication group showcased how Gulfstream developed the Interactive Wiring Diagram Manual (iWDM) and Integrated Parts Catalog (IPC) for the business jet G700 using CATIA, Capital Harness System Publisher, Smart Client, and Cortona3D RapidCatalog. They explained how one model was utilized to generate both documents, demonstrating greatly improved efficiency and time saving in their new documentation process for the aerospace industry.
Memorable for us was a presentation on NAVAIR’s success with Teamcenter Service Lifecycle Management (SLM) for integrated asset configuration management. Presented by Apryl MaClane, the talk also underscored the importance of technical publications in ensuring accurate and up-to-date documentation, which is crucial for supporting NAVAIR's mission in naval aviation.
The presentation "Empower Your Frontline Workforce with Augmented Reality" by Jason Holker from TeamViewer and Enzo Krka from Siemens was also very inspiring. This session explored how organizations can use TeamViewer Frontline Augmented Reality solutions integrated with Siemens Teamcenter to enhance productivity, efficiency, and process quality throughout the entire product development process. It highlighted the use of Augmented Reality to guide frontline workers and demonstrated how the Siemens-TeamViewer partnership supports the creation of AR content based on digital twins for various scenarios, including manufacturing, service, and training. The session emphasized that TeamViewer software can reuse procedures created with RapidAuthor in Teamcenter, showcasing how interactive 3D procedures can be effectively utilized in AR environments.
These and other sessions provided our team with deep insights into the latest advancements in technical documentation, automation, and augmented reality, aligning with Cortona3D's mission to streamline and enhance product documentation processes.
The insightful sessions were just one highlight of our time at Realize LIVE Americas. We were thrilled to meet with numerous customers, both new and old, as well as partners in Las Vegas this year, forging new strategic alliances. Engaging with customers who use RapidAuthor was particularly rewarding; the main theme was their excitement about the time saved by using RapidAuthor. Hearing their success stories firsthand was incredibly satisfying. Additionally, we were able to address specific customer setups and respond to questions more efficiently in person than digitally. It was wonderful to see everyone face-to-face again. The event's collaborative atmosphere made these interactions productive and inspiring. This environment motivated us and opened up exciting possibilities for future partnerships and innovations.
What a great event! Meeting old and new customers, friends, business partners, and colleagues in person is just irreplaceable. We're already looking forward to Realize Live EU in Munich this June.

Our conclusion from this event is clear: interest in RapidAuthor is higher than ever before, and we will work hard to stay at the forefront of industry innovation.
