Siemens PLM Software partners with Cortona3D to deliver complete PLM-based 3D technical publishing solution

2 May 2011, Plano, Texas

Siemens PLM Software, a leading global provider of product lifecycle management software and services, today announced a partnership with Cortona3D, a world leader in 3D visual communication and publishing software, that enables the company to deliver a comprehensive PLM-based 3D technical publishing solution fully integrated with its Teamcenter software. Siemens PLM Software can now sell Cortona3D RapidAuthor for Teamcenter directly to its customers, providing a methodology for more efficiently producing higher quality technical documentation at a lower cost.

The production of product-related documentation and training material often takes place as a separate function outside of product design and development. A lot of information necessary to create technical documentation comes from product development and is subject to rapid change. As a result, documentation is often produced late in the product development process and is subject to errors and incomplete content.

The integration of Teamcenter with Cortona3D RapidAuthor places documentation authoring, illustration, publishing, and updating within the same PLM environment as product development to align publication activities with production processes and information. The integrated solution enables technical writers to create structured technical documents such as product catalogs, manuals, and training material for publication online or in print and aligned with product launch activities.

The Cortona3D RapidAuthor suite is the perfect complement to the content and document management capabilities of Teamcenter. We now can offer our customers a fully integrated and comprehensive set of tools to author, publish and manage all their product support documents concurrently with the rest of the product development process. And since Teamcenter is the digital backbone for all product and process data, including 3D CAD and lightweight visualization files, our customers can produce technical documentation faster, more accurately and with richer 3D content than ever before.
